Heuer Monaco Automatic Chronograph ref 1133 (1972)
This Heuer Monaco model 1133b (Steve McQueen) with serial number 161214 was manufactured in 1972.
The watch is excellent condition as you can see from the photos, the stainless steel case and original Heuer bracelet is still crisp and has no corrosion, dents or scratches.
The original blue dial with white registers is in excellent condition for its age with a no blemishes and no seal melt. The movement is the automatic Heuer Calibre 11.
Commencing in the mid 1960’s Heuer was part of a partnership (with Breitling and Hamilton) that sought to introduce the world’s first automatic chronograph.
Seiko (Japanese) and Zenith (Swiss) were also seeking to be the first to offer these chronographs.
These projects were conducted in secret, as none of the competitors wanted the other companies to be aware of their efforts. Most agree that the Heuer-Breitling venture was first to introduce their new line of automatic chronographs to the world.
Heuers first automatic chronographs were the Autavia, Carrera and the Monaco. Several of these chronographs are associated with automobile racing and specific drivers. Steve McQueen wore a blue Monaco in the 1971 movie Le Mans. This model is referred to as the “McQueen Monaco”.
The Blue dial Monaco ref 1133b worn by Steve McQueen has become a highly collectable watch.
Only a 1000 blue dial Monaco’s were made between 1969-1974.
This watch is complete with original Heuer papers, a true collectors dream.

The watch was serviced by our very own Rolex trained service technician using only Heuer original parts. The Heuer automatic cal 12 movement has been stripped, ultra sonic chemically cleaned and then oiled and re-built. Grade A++ service.
